The glass rod is heated until it turns soft. This is the shortest moment: a few seconds too many and the material runs instead of holding its shape.
Shaping
Claws, arms and legs are added one by one while the glass is still hot. Every addition has to happen before the piece cools down.
The eyes
The eyes go on last, at the very tip. That detail gives each creature its character, and it is the one that varies most from one piece to the next.
